You are not a bad person, you are not a weak person, you are not a morally bankrupt person – you are sick person who has a complex brain disease known as the disease of addiction.
There is hope. Let’s discuss your treatment options.
Inpatient Versus Intensive Outpatient Treatment
There are a few types of treatment options available to you if you decide to get help for your addiction at a rehabilitation facility. The most common options are inpatient treatment and Intensive Outpatient Program, also known as IOP. Both approaches offer the same level of high quality care where you will be exposed to proven therapeutic models that are effective in treating an addiction to drugs or alcohol.
The only difference between inpatient and outpatient is that inpatient provides round-the-clock care in the safety and comfort of a treatment facility. You live at the facility for thirty to ninety days, depending on the program you choose. With the Intensive Outpatient Program, you attend treatment several days a week for several hours a day. IOP usually lasts up to three months and often takes place in the evening hours.
Alpine Centers also offers Partial Hospitalization (PHP), also known as our Day Treatment Program. This treatment is still outpatient, but it is even more intensive than a standard outpatient program with more hours during the day and a daily schedule during the week. For more information regarding PHP, please call (801) 268-1715.
How To Know Which Program Is Best For You
Deciding whether to stay at an inpatient treatment facility or going for IOP is an important decision; one that should not be taken lightly. Choosing the right program should be based on your individual circumstances and your current life situation. For example, you might be a single parent who has family responsibilities that would not allow you to check into an inpatient facility. In this case, outpatient might be better for you.
